San Antonio Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. Foundation
The San Antonio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Foundation is seeking authors to participate in the city’s renowned Martin Luther King Legacy Celebration in January 2025. The 7th Annual MLK Authors’ Summit will be presented by the Literary Empowerment Network Summit (LENS) committee.
LENS provides published authors a platform to present their books to a diverse group of readers, with the purpose of supporting established and emerging authors, encouraging literacy, and providing scholarship funding to local colleges, universities, or trade schools.
Selected authors will showcase their work at a lovely networking literary luncheon on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
Interested authors are requested to do the following:
- Submit the Authors’ Submission Application that can be downloaded here, a professional photo, along with a video described below. The application, photo and video are due no later than Monday, November 4, 2024.
- The video should introduce your book or project by exploring its theme and/or purpose. The video should not exceed four (4) minutes. Submit the video to Lens@mlksanantonio.org on/or before Monday, November 4, 2024. All questions and additional inquiries should be directed to Rose Bean at 210-846-0611 or Paula Applin at 210-333-8643. Invited authors will receive an acceptance letter by Monday, November 11, 2024.
- Authors invited to present in the Summit must submit the registration fee of $250 by Monday, December 2, 2024. See below for registration and participation benefits. Click here to access EVENTBRITE to submit payment.
- Presenting authors are encouraged to invite supporting guests to attend the networking luncheon. Presenting authors are asked to submit the names, email and phone number of their invited guests by Monday, December 2. Advanced payment of $50 per guest is due by Friday, December 29th. For extended exposure, selected authors will receive the following benefits in 2024: their books will be highlighted at the event and on the San Antonio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Foundation website for a full year; the broadcast of author presentations will be shown on all TAAN-TV platforms and have local media coverage in the support and promotion of their book(s) to the community.
